ReplyDeleteThis is a video of Fox 5 news doing a report on lead in drinking water. It accurately demonstrates the problems that lead will give to people who are unaware of it and how to make sure you do not have lead in your drinking water.
I emailed an employee of the EPA in Philadelphia by the name of William Smith. He is an attorney at law and knows a lot about the EPA. He is very smart and knowledgeable and would help us learn a lot more about this topic. He can provide us with how the EPA is helping the very terrible situation of there being lead in water.
ReplyDeleteHere is the e-mail I sent to Mr. Smith:
Hello Mr. Smith,
My Name is Alan Sonntag and I go to Hatboro- Horsham High School. I am in Honors Environmental Science and I a group of classmates and I are doing a blog! My friend had read an article about lead in our water, and I was wondering if you would be ever so kind to perhaps comment on the blog and give us more information about this topic! Here is a link to the blog: http://fivepeoplethatdonthaveaname.blogspot.com/2012/11/lead-in-water.html
Thank you so much for your time and consideration,
Alan Sonntag
1. What do you think the EPA is doing to stop the lead from coming in to your water?
ReplyDelete-The EPA could inform the people about lead in the water and ways to prevent it while they get rid of the lead that has gotten into the water.
2. What should people do to help them from getting lead poisen or having lead in their water?
-Ways people can prevent lead from getting into their water is to get the water tested. Also the pipes could be flushed before the water is swallowed andto use cold water for consumption.
I think that it is sad that the things humans are using to try to help our lifestyles are the things that are hurting us. The article about drugs in the water, drugs that are supposed to be helping us, are returning to our water and starting to hurt us. Now our sinks that we use to clean our dishes and wash our hands are leaving metal deposits in our water and causing negative effects.
ReplyDelete1. How can you tell whether your water has lead or traces of other metal in it?
2. Do they know for sure that the erosion of the sinks are what is causing the lead in our water?
3. If lead is poisoning to humans, why would sink companies make their sinks out of it?
4. If you found out that your water is being contaminated, how would you fix it?
